Thoughts About This Series
Some of my earliest memories are of creating a fortress with a blanket over the dinning room table. Lying in that quiet place I would stare up and marvel at the intricate cuts, the beauty of wood grain on the table above. When I view wood today I still marvel at the natural beauty. As A Potter I have long been interested in the vessel and the container. As a sculptor I have been interested in fashioning forms that are influenced by the natural beauty of wood grain. These boxes are the result of overlapping the sculptor and the vessel maker. Taught to me by a friend and renaissance artist of my past, these boxes involve intricate cutting and interlocking modules. They are puzzles, containers and sculptures. |
